Beaver Lodge Fly-inn's Newsletter
Season's Greetings from Beaver Lodge - December, 2011-12-09
It seems only a few weeks ago we were sending our Best Wishes for 2010. We cannot believe 2012 is
upon us.
2011 was the complete opposite of 2010. Northern Saskatchewan was blessed with ideal weather.
Seeding was completed early and rain fell only when needed. Fall was a true Indian Summer; long
warm evenings enabled the harvest of a bumper crop. Needless to say the farmers were very happy.
Other parts of Saskatchewan didn't fare as well.
It has been a busy year in connection with our Country Craftsman carpentry business. The housing
industry was very active this past year and I have been very busy in the shop.
Marion is still working within the Credit Union system and covering a number of branches. There are
always changes relating to the inner workings of the banking systems, products, and human resources,
she deals well with whatever comes her way. There has been some talk about retirement but nothing
too serious.
Beaver Lodge saw a lot of excellent fishing. Fishing honours go to Norman Pohler of Spalding,
Saskatchewan for the Largest Lake Trout at - 42 INCHES and to Don Allen of Denver, Colorado for the
Largest Northern Pike at - 45 INCHES (caught on a fly rod). Their catch and experience will be honoured
by mounting pictures/plaques on the Trophy Wall in the Main Lodge. The benefit of being a Catch and
Release Lake for large fish is the realization that these same fish are awaiting other perspective anglers.
As our last guests departed it was time for the Crew to close up the Lodge. After much work a leisurely
hour of fishing seemed an appropriate reward. PICTURETHIS - 3 fishermen, three rods and within that
hour 60 fish caught and released. Some might say that is a tall fish tale -IT WAS NOT. In all my years of
angling I have never experienced anything like it - Remember those fish are awaiting your return and are
ONLY LARGER.
We hope to see you again soon and at-this time send You and Your Families SEASONSGREETINGSand
our Best Wishes for a Healthy and Prosperous 2012.
